HolyStops ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use the HolyStops mobile application.
Information We Collect
When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and profile picture provided through Google, Apple, or email sign-up. Guest users can explore without providing personal account information.
With your permission, HolyStops uses device location to show nearby churches, calculate distances, support visit tracking, and suggest nearby churches for trips. Location access is optional and can be revoked in device settings. Location data is processed in real time and is not stored on our servers.
With analytics consent, we may collect usage data such as screens visited, features used, and general interaction patterns. If you are signed in and consent is granted, events may be associated with your account identifier.
We collect crash reports, performance diagnostics, device model, operating system version, app version, error details, and limited interaction context to keep the app reliable. Sentry session replay may record masked visual interaction data around errors. Replays are sampled at approximately 10% of sessions and up to 100% for error sessions; text and images are masked by default.
Push Notifications
With explicit consent, HolyStops may send alerts about nearby churches, trip reminders, new church or city data, and construction or temporary closure alerts for saved churches. Notification settings can be changed in the app or device settings.
How We Use Information
- Provide, maintain, and improve HolyStops.
- Personalize church recommendations and trip planning.
- Sync visits, trips, preferences, bookmarks, and achievements across devices.
- Process Pro purchases through Apple App Store or Google Play.
- Respond to support requests and analyze consented usage trends.
Storage and Security
Account and sync data is stored with Convex. Local app storage may include visits, trips, downloaded city data, reports, preferences, filters, and notification settings so HolyStops can work offline. Some preference data uses encrypted device storage where available.
Third-Party Services
HolyStops uses Clerk for authentication, Convex for database, server functions, file storage, and synchronization, RevenueCat for Pro purchase entitlement management, PostHog for consented analytics, Sentry for crash reporting, diagnostics, and session replay, Apple App Store and Google Play for payment, map providers for map display, and Wikipedia or other public sources for historical information. Church images are linked from public online sources and are not hosted by HolyStops.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information. We may use anonymized or aggregated analytics data to improve the product, and may disclose information if required by law or to protect HolyStops, users, or the public.
Your Rights
You may request access, correction, deletion, analytics consent withdrawal, location and notification withdrawal, or export of your data. Account deletion is available from app settings and removes personal data from our servers within 30 days unless retention is required by law.
Children's Privacy
HolyStops is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
HolyStops may process account information such as email address through our authentication provider, location data when users grant location permission, and diagnostic data such as crash logs to maintain and improve the app. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without appropriate parental consent, we will delete that information.
